Winter in Lake City

One of the top questions we get from summer guests is “what do you do in the winter?” Well the best way to understand is to come see for yourself. Cold temperatures and snow bring a much different pace of life, and the population shrinks to a fraction of the summer crowd. San Juan Soda becomes town’s living room, with couches for lounging and a table for puzzles and games. We don’t sell as much ice cream, but the espresso machine works overtime!

Ice Climbing

Lake City is fortunate to have perfect terrain for ice climbing, and we’ve been getting recognized over recent years as a premier location for fans of the sport. With dozens of routes spread across over a mile of pristine, ice-covered cliffs, there’s a challenge for every experience level. San Juan Soda offers ice tools, crampons, and boots to rent or purchase, as well as a sizable selection of rope, hardware, harnesses, helmets, and gloves. If you or a friend are interested in trying ice climbing, stop by the shop and we’ll get you set up.

Breakfast

We know it can be challenging to visit Lake City in the winter. Most of the businesses are closed, and finding a bite to eat can be tough at times. This is why we’re excited to be able to offer our take on breakfast. Start your day with a hot cup of strong coffee, and a warm, fresh waffle topped with your choice of our tasty toppings.
